Preparing, Pricing & Tagging.

Tagging your items takes time — but these tips make it faster, easier, and more profitable. Read this before drop-off.

Important: Every item must be clean and in good condition. We will refuse any item with broken or missing parts, odors, pet hair, stains, or tears. Cleanliness is the single biggest factor in the success of your sale.

Supplies You'll Need

  • Hangers — required for all clothing (except onesies). Hangers will not be returned.
  • Ziploc bags — variety of sizes for small items and parts.
  • Safety pins — medium and large; skip the flimsy dollar-store ones.
  • Packaging tape — heavy and clear, for taping tags to non-clothing items.
  • White cardstock paper — no colored paper for tags.
  • Zipties — great for securing shoes and pants to hangers.
  • Tagging guns — permitted and recommended. Tag through the seam under the arm or through the clothing tag to avoid holes.

Clothing

  • Junior clothing accepted in limited quantity: name brands ONLY (Hollister, Aero, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Nike, Under Armour, Buckle). Off brands refused at drop-off.
  • Infant clothing (under 2T) limited to 25 items per size per gender. Bundle multiple items on one hanger for one low price to sell more.
  • All clothing must be current styles — 5 years or newer.
  • Clothing must be hung on hangers. Only onesies may go in ziploc bags — bundle 3+ for a single price.
  • Pants or second pieces: pin behind the top piece, catching the hanger with the pin so the top isn't weighed down. Do not tuck or fold underneath.
  • Single pants, shorts, and skirts: pin at the waistband to the top of the hanger.
  • Pair like items and create sets when possible — they sell better than separates. Do not cross sizes when bundling.
  • PIN tags or use a tagging gun — do NOT tape tags to clothing (they fall off and items go unsold).

Shoes

  • Place shoes in a ziploc bag with the tag taped to the outside — this is the easiest, safest method.
  • Secure pairs together with zipties (or pin/tie with string). Loose shoes constantly get separated and lose their tags.
  • Shoes must be clean and in great shape. Please, no muddy or worn-out shoes — bring only your best like-new pairs.

Small Items, Books & Media

  • Accessories (hair items, socks, rattles, etc.) sell best grouped in threes or more inside a clear ziploc bag.
  • Pin or tape the tag to the outside of the bag (never over the barcode).
  • Books and DVDs must be clean and in new condition. Bundle by taping or tying, or place in a ziploc bag with a title list taped to the front if titles aren't visible.

Toys

  • All pieces must be securely fastened together. Use zipties, packaging tape, ribbon, or ziploc bags.
  • No toys with loose pieces — they will get separated and lost.
  • Include working batteries in toys that need them. Shoppers buy more when they see the toy working.
  • Boxed puzzles are NOT accepted (we can't verify all pieces). Wooden puzzles wrapped tightly in plastic wrap are OK.

Larger Items

  • Secure the tag directly to the item with clear packaging tape.
  • Place any parts or accessories in a ziploc bag, sealed and taped to the item. Do NOT put the tag inside the bag — tape it outside.
  • Include an index card inside the bag with your consignor number in case the bag gets separated.

Pricing Tips

  • Be competitive — with thousands of items and many duplicates, the cheaper item wins.
  • Remember: your item is used. Better to sell it than take it home to donate later.
  • Cleanliness matters — a quick wipe with a Magic Eraser can transform toys, shoes, and gear.
  • Price in $1 increments with a $2.00 minimum. If an item is worth less than $2 alone, bundle it.
  • Outfits and bundled pieces sell better than separates.
  • Mark items for the half-price Sunday sale — many shoppers will only buy items marked 50% on Sunday.

Tagging in the System

  • All items must be entered into the online system and printed with system-generated tags. Handmade tags are NOT accepted without prior approval.
  • Log in with your 4-digit consignor number and password, then choose Work with Consigned Inventory.
  • Select category and size, enter a brief description, set your price, choose donate and discount options.
  • Clothing must use NUMBER sizes (6mo, 12mo, 2T, 6, etc.) — not S / M / L.
  • Tags print 6 per page. Do not shrink, enlarge, or use dark print — they won't scan. Turn OFF your popup blocker before printing.
  • If you change info on a tag after printing, you must print a new tag.
